Keep America Beautiful is an environmental organization founded in 1953. It is the largest community improvement organization in the United States, with approximately 580 affiliate organizations (similar to local chapters) and more than 17,000 participating communities in their signature annual event - the Great American Cleanup.
Keep America Beautiful focuses on three key issues: litter prevention, the waste hierarchy: waste reduction, reuse, recycling and community beautification (tree planting, community gardens). This is accomplished through a combination of community organizing, public education and the fostering of public/private partnerships.

The Texas Legislature is the state legislature of the U.S. state of Texas. The legislature is a bicameral body composed of the upper house Texas Senate with 31 members, and the lower Texas House of Representatives with 150 members. The Legislature meets at the Texas State Capitol in Austin. In Texas, the legislature is arguably considered the most powerful arm of the Texas Government due to its power of the purse to control and direct the activities of state government, as well the strong constitutional connections between the legislature and the Lieutenant Governor of Texas.
The Legislature replaced the Congress of the Republic of Texas following Texas' entrance into the United States in 1845. The first session of the legislature met from February 16 to May 13, 1846.

This article examines recycling in the United States. Due to there not being a national law for recycling, mandatory recycling is legislated through state and local governments. A number of U.S. states, such as California, Hawaii, Oregon, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Iowa, Michigan and New York have passed laws that establish deposits or refund values on beverage containers while other states rely on recycling goals or landfill bans of recyclable materials. Some cities, such as New York City and Seattle, have created laws that enforce fines upon citizens who throw away certain recyclable materials. There are also a wide variety of voluntary programs and educational programs to increase recycling where it is not mandated by law.
The Texas House of Representatives is the lower house of the Texas Legislature. The House is composed of 150 members from an equal amount of districts across the state, with each constituency consisting of nearly 140,000 people. Rates of household recycling in Ireland have increased dramatically since the late 1990s, but are still lagging behind the averages of other European countries. The Irish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the agency with overall responsibility for recycling, and acts as the watchdog for the waste management industry in Ireland. Each local authority in Ireland has considerable control over recycling, so recycling practices vary considerably across the country. Ireland does not currently have any incineration facilities (though some are planned), so any waste that is not recycled is disposed of in landfill sites. The Central Statistics Office reported in 2007 that almost 90% of Irish households recycled some of their household waste, compared to just 48% in 1999. The figure was highest for residents in Dublin (94%).

Originally known as the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, it acquired its present name in 2002.
It is the primary state agency charged with enforcement of environmental regulations and with issuing air and water operating permits to businesses operating in Texas. These permits typically specify the types and maximum amounts of pollutants a permit holder may legally discharge into the air or state waterways. The Texas Campaign for the Environment (TCE) is an organization that works on health and environmental issues in the state of Texas. TCE began when its founders parted ways with Texans United in 1991. It has grown to become a leading environmental voice for Texans and has won numerous awards and public recognition. TCE
One of TCE's major victories was closing the Grandfather Loop hole in the Texas Clean Air Act. It has of late focused primarily on the ill effects of electronic waste and its impact on Texas water sources. The campaign made headlines in 2004 when it successfully pressured Dell to recycle for consumers and again in 2005 with Apple. Most recently, TCE built a broad coalition of environmental groups, local governments, electronics producers, and recyclers that resulted in the passing of producer takeback legislation in Texas. House Bill 2714 was unanimously passed and signed into law by Governor Rick Perry on June 17, 2007. This law requires all computer companies who wish to sell their products in the state to develop convenient, free recycling programs for their consumers. As of 2008, TCE is working to get a similar bill passed that will require television companies to take back and recycle their obsolete products as well. The organization itself, currently headed by Robin Schnieder, has been operating since 1991 and is based out of Dallas, Austin and Houston.
The primary tool of TCE is the field canvass. Five to six days a week, TCE organizers head out into Texas residential areas and go door-to-door educating citizens on current issues and getting them involved by collecting membership contributions and having them write letters to corporate, federal, state and local figures. TCE has won numerous awards and is a leading voice on environmental issues in Texas.
